Ted: When did you decide to go on this big adventure?
We decided over a year ago to begin preparing for our year away from home.
Aldo: Do you feel like giving up?
Not so far but we are only just beginning so it will be interesting to see how we feel about it later in the year.
Thomas: Is Wilfy as cute as he looks in the videos?
Three year old’s have a way of being cute and extremely cheeky at the same time don’t they!
Oliver: Are you feeling ok after your bike crash?
Yes, everyone had fully recovered. You can hardly see where Wilfy grazed his face and Nic doesn’t have pain in her arm anymore.
Miles: When are your birthdays?
Nic is April (soon), Andrew in April, Wilfy in November and Hope in mid December (we’ll probably be home by her birthday).
Ari: What types of unusual animals have you seen?
Check out the Maria Island Animals video for some animal clips.
Sam: Why did you choose the type of bike you are riding?
Good question. There are lots of different ways to carry two people on one bike. Our tandems are the classic way to do it but others have designed some pretty exotic pedal powered people movers. You could do some research or design your own version.
Molly: Are you having fun?
Overall yes, but like everyone we have ups and downs during each day where fun wouldn’t be the best description!
Tess: Are Wilfy and Hope exhausted yet?
They have a lot of energy every day but they do get tired in the evening like most kids.
Poppy: How many snakes have you seen?
Not many alive but a few squashed ones recently. Tassie only has three snake species. Can you name them?
Arran: When do you plan to leave Tasmania?
We are booked on the Spirit of Tasmania on the night of the 13th March which is next Wednesday.
Charlotte: Do you always have enough food and water to drink?
Yes, it’s probably the most important thing to plan for because we need water all the time.
Mrs Graham-Smith: How do you keep all of you food cool?
We don’t carry a lot of fresh food at any one time as it does spoil faster without a fridge. But we can manage carrots, onions, capsicum, cheese and things like that for a few days before they go off.
